Mile a Month: Mushrooms at Turning Point Park

  • Turning Point Park 398 Boxart Street Rochester, NY, 14612 United States (map)

Explore the fungus among us and learn how mushrooms help the ecosystem of the Genesee River on this walk led by experts from the Rochester Mycological Association. Please note - this is a walk to see and learn, NOT to forage for mushrooms.

The trail at Turning Point is ADA accessible. We will meet at the parking lot - look for the mushroom sign.

This mushroom walk probably won’t get to the beautiful boardwalk over the river - but leave time afterwards to explore this scenic spot. Bring binoculars to look for herons, ducks, turtles and more. If you pack a picnic, please do not feed the wildlife and take all trash with you.

Please bring a water bottle, dress for the weather, and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. We encourage long pants as you’ll go off trail to look for mushrooms.

This walk is fun for all ages, and is especially family friendly - kids make great mushroom hunters. Pets on a leash are welcome.

Accessibility: There is off-street parking available, and the trail is a combination of paved and boardwalk. There is no bathroom.
