Location: Town of Greece, Monroe County

Size: 61 acres

Description: This Preserve is a favorite birding site consisting of a partially wooded area bordering the western edge of Round Pond. It is top among local, critical migratory bird stopover habitats.

Trail Description: A 3/4-mile trail begins just past the guardrail that blocks Old Island Cottage Road. There are several boardwalks and benches throughout the trail system. The trail runs through the woods and has a few views over the cattail wetlands. An extension trail connects at a boardwalk along the edge of the Round Pond and continues through Schaller’s Woods, ending at the intersection of Island Cottage Road and Edgemere Drive.

Getting There

Driving Directions: Exit off of Rte 390 onto Latta Road. Go east to the first intersection—Island Cottage Road. Go north on Island Cottage Road. The entrance to the Preserve is off of a small portion of Old Island Cottage Road on the east side immediately adjacent to the Lake Plains Waterfowl club house.
